Christine Callahan, president of Julia’s Butterfly Foundation was recently nominated for the for 17th Annual Awards “Making a Difference” in charitable work or other acts of kindness or heroism sponsored by the Russell Berrie Foundation and Ramapo College. The ceremony recognizes “ordinary people who do extraordinary things,” as described by the late Russell Berrie, philanthropist and toy industry leader who died in 2002. While Callahan and Julia’s Butterfly Foundation did not receive a top award, she considers it a privilege to receive the nomination and be included amongst the group.” The winners were simply inspirational” says Callahan and recognizes that she is just one of many involved in the foundation working to improve the lives of terminally and chronically ill children.
Angelica Berrie, president of the Russell Berrie Foundation, reiterated her husbands admiration of the "power of making a difference and noted that the nominees embody a sense of purpose that spurs them to action"…Mrs. Berrie added "may you continue to be a blessing, a blessing to others and work together to change the world."
